vs 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.
My commands are my teaching, my will, my desires, my intentions and purposes.
The person who has my commands is the one who has listened to me teach and preach and has taken my words to heart. The person who keeps my commands obeys them, follows them, lives according to them, and is governed by them in thought as well as deed. This is the one who shows me their love.
The person who has my commands in their mind and heart will keep them in their lifestyle and habits. To keep them is to take heed to them, to acknowledge and recognize their value and their paramount importance, to agree with the pre-eminence of their truth and the necessity of living according to them out of love and respect for the Father and I.
To keep them is to treasure them, keeping them is proof that your attitude is right toward the Father. If you didn't love me and my Father then you would have no respect for the commands and would show contempt for them by ignoring them.
The person who loves me will be loved by my Father. My Father loves all those He has created but He has a special affection for those who keep His commands because they are open to receiving His love and loving Him in return.
I will love them, too. I will show myself to those who are near and dear to the heart of God. These are the ones whose eyes are open and whose hearts are open and whose will is yielded - they are the ones who are able to see and hear and believe.
Those who have rejected my commands and treated them with no regard are the ones who are too dull to hear and too blind to see. They have missed out. They have forfeited the opportunity to be in a special love relationship with the Father and I, and they will not see the Father.
My intentions is to show myself and reveal who I am in the fullness of the Godhead, but I can only do that for those who have eyes to see and who are humble enough to see me without being puffed up with false pride and a sense of superiority or self-importance as a result. There is no use in showing myself to those who cannot recognize me.
The privilege of seeing me is reserved for those who want to see me because they love me. My father and the Holy Spirit take delight in revealing me to those who appreciate who I am and believe in me and worship me. As I've already said, you believe in God, so believe also in me. Believe who I am and believe what I say. This is what pleases and delights the Father.
